Hi, I'm Jared, a nature sound recording artist seeking the quietest places in the world.

Native to Connecticut, I was fortunate to grow up in a quiet neighborhood with two brothers and limited technology.

Without cell phones or internet, nature had our undivided attention as we explored the woods, caught bugs, and watched the stars, untethered and fully immersed in the wonders of the natural world.

These experiences instilled a life long love for nature within me.

Although I have some fond sonic memories of these times, my fascination for nature sounds did not truly start until my first recording.

Sounds have shown me how peaceful the natural flow of life can be and how juxtaposed our chaotic, societal soundscapes often are.

Fast-forwarding to today, I created Acoustic Nature to help others learn about the joys of field recording and to connect others with nature through sound.

Reconnecting with nature is a vital step in repairing and restoring our relationships with ourselves, each other, and all living beings on Earth.

Nature is calling, it’s time we listened.

In 2022, Jared was featured on episode 4 of the PBS TV show, “America Outdoors”.

Hosted by Baratunde Thurston, America Outdoors showcases people’s unique relationships with nature.

As a nature field recordist, Jared shared how he connects with nature through sound in the Shenandoah National Forest, VA.

Jared is a volunteer researcher for Quiet Parks International (QPI).

Co-founded by the world-renown nature sound recordist, Gordon Hempton, QPI is an organization that researches, tests, and certifies quiet natural areas around the world.

Their work helps to raise awareness about noise pollution, and presents quiet nature destinations to people around the world, where they can find peace, away from the oppressive soundscapes of modern life.
